Notes From A Fish
Roles: Sound Editor/Re-recording Mixer
Notes From A Fish marks my biggest step to date. A feature length surreal comedy/drama about an aspiring novelist on the verge of a breakthrough loses his muse, a tropical fish, sending him and an unstable fisheries officer on bizarre misadventures to recover the fish rumoured to hold mysterious, almost magical powers.
This film was funded by the New Zealand Film Commission and selected as a part of the exclusive New Zealand International Film Festival.
Taking on this project as a largely solo sound department was equal parts daunting and exciting. With just under three months to complete everything from sound editing to final mixing, this project supercharged my appreciation for the amount of work that goes into a film of this size.
I couldn’t have do it without the help of POW Studios, whose facilities an advice allowed me elevate this film to greater heights. Along with this I had their own foley team, Callum Scott and Carrie McLaughlin, to assist putting this one together.
